The first few diptychs in this series were accidental. The initial project involved the digitization and printing of some favorite images for cataloging purposes.

In order to minimize expenses, I decided to print two images per sheet. After a few outputs I began to notice a dynamic between the two images on a single page. In some, the connection was obvious, while in others there was no apparent immediate relationship. However, in many cases, I discovered an association by studying the combination more discriminately.

Finally, I realized that by offering the possibility of a connection, the diptych serves as an invitation to the viewer to get more involved by seeking to find his or her own associations between the two images.
