During my career as a Flight Service Manager, I was able to take annual seasonal leaves, but mostly for travel. In 1980, I decided to forego the traveling in order to attend Columbia College's Film School as a first step to becoming a film director.

After three short films, "Pissed Off", "Wet Dream", and "Mail Love", I was recalled to the skies, and was eventually transferred to New York City. At that time, I also realized that as much as I liked filmmaking, I preferred what I believed was the more romantic life of a photographer as an individual discovering the streets of the world alone.
