espRIT was the very first digitally produced newspaper. It was created by the first electronic still photography class at RIT, and most likely in the world, using emerging still video and digital technologies under the guidance of Professor Douglas Ford Rea.

Doug had assembled a cutting edge lab of digital equipment including the then extraordinary Apple II, Still Video Cameras by Canon and Minolta, and beta software including pre-release versions of Photoshop.
