VOID was the new bar in Soho with a huge video
screen. One of the owners, Eric, whom I knew as a graphic designer during
my Kodak days, asked me if I would consider promoting and spinning once
a month for a series called NULL.
The theme for the first evening was music from spy movies. Time Out New York thought the title Private Dick very clever, but it worked against us. The heteros thought it was a gay party, and the gay crowd didn't come when they found out there was no back room. The next party, I began to play industrial and avant garde music to a much more appreciative crowd. |
